Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) is an 808-bed hospital in downtown Orlando and the flagship medical center of the Orlando Health System. ORMC is also an award-winning Level One Trauma Center. In 2011, HSJ was an integral part of the design team for the expansion of the ORMC downtown campus which included the design and construction of the new high-rise North Tower. The project also included the renovation and seamless integration of multiple other adjacent, existing healthcare facilities into the downtown Orlando campus. HSJ provided design engineering for electronic card access control systems, all doors and door hardware, automatic door operators, coordinated security systems and the associated life safety requirements.
DESIGN & ENGINEERING
HSJ designed, engineered, specified, and provided construction administration services for the implementation of all electronic card access control systems, end-to-end, all swinging, overhead, storefront, pedestrian / vehicular gates, automatic sliding / swinging, ICU, high speed coiling doors, door frames, and all associated electromechanical and mechanical door hardware for the Project. The Project included unique life safety requirements such as behavioral health / anti-ligature requirements, high rise new construction, existing renovation, blast mitigation, windstorm, as well as design complexities associated with the Florida Building Code in Class I-2 healthcare occupancy such as large and small missile impact protective openings. Our firm provided design engineering services from design development, to construction document issuance, including bid phase services comprised of subcontractor / supplier interviews, bid reviews and analysis, and also included full construction administration services comprised of request for information and submittal / shop drawing processing, value engineering exercises, through owner occupancy.
